Ensure dynamic and instant access to critical data

Data center interconnect (DCI) technology connects two or more data centers to exchange data seamlessly and also provides backup for redundancy. DCI enables enterprises to dynamically tap into both physical and virtual resources across numerous sites, and load-balance their network infrastructure as necessary.

Sify connects 66+ edge data centers pan India on a high-speed network to maximize reach and deliver a superior end-user experience.

Internet Exchange as-a-service offered by Sify gives access to multiple cloud providers, ISPs, CDNs, OTT players, social media networks, enterprises, and national and international telcos under a single umbrella to optimize and enhance network performance.

Key features

DCI offers a variety of connection options with major telecom operators, allowing customers the freedom to distribute workloads across Sify’s carrier-neutral data centers.
Hyperscaler CSPs partner with Sify to help businesses seamlessly connect to public clouds through its high-speed, low latency network.
DCI provides robust traffic encryption, increasing the security of information exchange, and allows businesses to implement quality of service (QoS) and guarantee performance.

Key differentiators

Metro Cross-Connect

Links Sify’s data centers located within the same metropolitan area with pre-built, high-bandwidth 1G/10G/100G Ethernet. The service offers guaranteed availability and protection with sub-50ms latency.

In the Mumbai region, Sify uses Metro Cross-Connect to link its Airoli and Rabale data centers. A similar solution to connect other Sify data centers at Noida, Hyderabad, Bangaluru, and Chennai is in progress.

Service access and Internet Exchange

Internet Exchange (IX) as a service is a fully managed carrier-neutral service that enables you to interconnect with a multitude of networks directly, across different IXs in India and internationally.

IX as-a-service is specifically used by providers looking for network optimization, improving network performance and achieving low-latency with cost-effective interconnection. AMS-IX, Extreme-IX, DE-CIX, SP-IXP, and NiXi are hosted with Sify across India.

Data Center Interconnect

Sify DCI provisioning is fast and seamless. The high-speed network features next-generation architecture for Ethernet VPN and Ethernet OAM with automatic failover, delivering enterprise-class resiliency and up to 100% uptime.

Disaster recovery – whether mandated or highly desired by industries to safeguard operations and assets – is another big reasonΒ data center interconnect Ethernet services are popular among users.

FAQs

Data Center Interconnect (DCI) refers to the technologies and services that connect multiple data centers, enabling them to communicate and share data efficiently. This interconnection allows for enhanced scalability, redundancy, and improved disaster recovery capabilities.

The main benefits of implementing DCI include increased bandwidth, improved data transfer speed, enhanced reliability and redundancy, simplified management of multi-cloud environments, and better disaster recovery options by allowing seamless data replication between data centers.

DCI supports multi-cloud strategies by enabling organizations to connect their on-premises data centers with multiple cloud providers. This interconnectivity facilitates the movement of data between various cloud environments, allowing for optimized resource utilization and improved flexibility in deploying applications.

Common technologies used for DCI include optical networking, Ethernet, MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), and SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network). These technologies provide the necessary bandwidth and reliability required for effective data center interconnection.

Organizations should consider implementing DCI if they experience increased data transfer demands, require high availability and redundancy for critical applications, are adopting multi-cloud solutions, or need to enhance their disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Assessing current and future data needs can help determine the necessity for DCI.
